. this is the third time bay area police have had to open fire on suspects this week alone. an incident in san jose and a separate one in san francisco both involved car chases and ended up with police fatally shooting the suspects. reporting live in hayward, kira klapper, abc7 news. >> thanks, kira. we will have more on that on our newscast tonight. >>> san jose police continue to search a stretch of highway 85 for evidence tossed out of a speeding car by a man trying to get away from officers. it happened at blossom and calaro avenues. he intentionally rammed several patrol car. abc news reporter sergio shows us dramatic video shot by witnesses. breaking news. >> amber alerts are expanding from san jose throughout the bay area and the state for an 11-month-old baby girl in a jeep stolen from san jose this morning. good morning, i am kristen sze. >> police need your help right now in fining this child quickly gabriel that's mother is frantic, the bobby was in a white 2006 jeep liberty taken this morning. kira klapper is live in show. police are hoping for clues from surveillance videos. >> that is right. san jose place are look at video from a neighbor's house right across the street from the house where this happened. the house where it happened is on the last of your screen, a peach home. there is a house directly across amador court that has surveillance cameras. this happened after 6:00 a.m., it is dark and grainy but the camera has infrared technology that can help police. look at this, it is a white jeep liberty and something that police want people to take a look at, the sticker on the back of the jeep. they are saying that it is two little cartoon babies, kissing, and that is what police want people to look for. they have g
, just even like subdue the guy. >> san jose police are still trying to recover all the items that were tossed out of the car by the driver during the chase, including a possible weapon. if anyone happens to come across any of those item, they are urged to call san jose police so they can collect them as evidence. in san jose, abc7 news. >> new this morning fire crews in campbell of work to go clean up a big mess caused by a small fire that broke out last night inside our residential high-rise for seniors. no one was injured, but some residents are being helped by the red cross because their homes are damaged. the fire was minor, contained just one 12th-floor apartment. it set off of the sprinkler system that quickly put out the flames but the water drained all the way down through all twelve floors directly below. firefighters had to go floor by floor checking the damage. >> trying to ascertain how many of the units are damaged to the point that the occupants are displaced. most people are obviously going to be fine. >> those seniors fortunate enough to be allowed to go back home had t

are investigating san jose's third police shooting of this month. an officer fired on a suspect yesterday afternoon after police say a woman in a stolen car tried to run an officer down. they say the woman reversed the car and hit the officer as he approached the vehicle. the officer then shot her at least once. a man sitting in the passenger seat was injured but it is not clear if he was shot. both went to the hospital but police say they will recover. the for was not seriously injured. abc7 news reporter katie marzullo will have the latest in the next half hour. >> four children, one only 13, led police on a chase down highway 101 yesterday. the three teenage boys and a girl all from san jose are now accused stealing a car and running from police. sky 7 was over seen just as the chase ended in redwood city, the 14-year-old boy behind the wheel started running from police by foster city after they spotted the stolen car. >> people hoping to reduce gun violence are planning ever developments across the country today. today is the national day to demand action, a bay area group is planning to rally

to kill arriving deputies. >>> developing news in san jose where police continue to look for a killer. the man stabbed a woman to death yesterday afternoon just a few blocks from the santa clara county sheriff's office. john alston has more from north first street. >> the brutal stabbing happened in broad day light just after 2:30 in the afternoon in the parking lot next to the togo sandwich shop. matt was eating lunch when he heard a commotion and ran out to help the woman slashed on her neck and arms. >> i held her head up and kept pressure on it. i said, who did this? can you give me a name, any name? and she couldn't really talk. >> he, too, was covered in blood when the paramedics arrived. >> i feel it was horrible for her to have to die that way, and i just hope by me being there maybe it wasn't as bad way to die. >> he walked to north second street where he was doing handiwork and had to convince police he was not the killer. police say the real culprit hopped the fence and ran through this neighborhood where detectives found blood in front of some homes. the detectives came by
